Our whole downstairs was in need of a lighting facelift, so after we tackled the main living area it was time to spread out.  Next up came the powder room’s renovation.  It had previously been a color that can only be described as celery and that’s exactly the name Sherwin Williams gave it.  When we swapped out the color to something darker I immediately began to panic.  The darker paint, flooring, and accent tiles immediately made the space feel smaller.  I knew pulling this off would have to rely on the details.

Oddly enough, our downstairs powder bathroom had a medicine chest in it so my husband tackled taking that out and some drywall work in order for a lighter accent tile to be installed and bring brightness to the space.  We paired that with family heirloom; the mirror from my mother’s childhood bedroom.  After a little paint refresh, the larger mirror and white detail seemed perfect for the space.

Next came the Drayden 30” heirloom single sink bathroom vanity with white cultured marble top from Lowe’s and while that helped as well the space was still missing something.  I fell in love with the brightness of the Roehm 4-light nickel transitional vanity light when I saw it at Lowe’s and knew it was going to be the perfect fit in our space to complement the new and old pieces.  The lighting fixture was the perfect pop that pulled the whole look together but also brightened the space perfectly.

Once that was done the main entry and garage entry lights looked so dated, so we moved onto those next. The main entrance now showcases the Aldean 10” bronze farmhouse semi-flush mount light.  This Lowe’s exclusive is from a similar collection as the pendants we hung over the kitchen island so it sets a good tone the moment you walk in the front door.  The way the light cascades down is just perfect for our entry and provides much better lighting for our art that’s in the space.  Coming from a family that has people in the 6’ and 7’ range, it was important to me to make sure our entry way would be safe and wouldn’t include a fixture that family members would be slamming their heads into upon entering.  This was the perfect choice!

Since the garage entry it really only used by those of us living in the house it now has the Winslow 8.5” old bronze transitional semi-flush mount light.  It hangs in the space just a smidge lower than the Aldean 10” fixture that’s at the front door due to our lower ceiling height in the hallway that leads to the garage. I love the way they bring new life to each space and they definitely provide us much more functional lighting when entering our home.

We loved the new fan in the living room so much that we went out to buy another for the master bedroom and it paired perfectly with another one of the Aldean 10” bronze farmhouse semi flush mount lights for the hallway between our closets that leads to the bathroom.  After installing two of those lights, my husband decided he loved them so much that we need more for a few other tight spaces we have, so I see another trip back to Lowe’s in our future to finish off the project.  They provide a clean look and an increased amount of light, over what was there previously, so I’m pretty sure at least four more will be coming home with us in the near future for the master closets and the upstairs hallway between rooms.

I’m so glad we stumbled across the Kichler brand before we started wrapping up this project.  Their lights and fans are easy to install as well as being a phenomenal product with such a diverse array of styles.  I highly recommend you check them out for your space.  It’s amazing how the lighting upgrade has made us feel like we’re living in a whole new house.
