From Making Magic to Changing Lives: Transforming Leadership and Revolutionizing Organizations

Alexis Senge Johnson, MNM, CFRE

As a dancer, 1/2” too short for my dream of being a Rockette, I spent my remaining performance years being friends with royalty and snuggling countless toddlers at the most magical place on earth. Once in leadership, I moved onto leading everything from tiny horses and live event production teams to a board of directors and organization volunteers in positions usually reserved for my male counterparts.

I’ve done it all by creatively inspiring teams into action and stepping company goals up a notch. I understand when to toe the line and when to shake up traditional tactics in order to achieve exceptional outcomes. I know how to ask a lot of a team, keep them properly resourced, and make sure we have fun working hard and growing together. I use a lifetime of persistence and creative problem solving to make magic and change lives while I tranform leadership and revolutionize organizations. I lead from the front when my teammates face event and development challenges. I’m not what you’re used to, but I’m exactly what you and your team need.

Often finding myself as one of few women at the table, I see the importance of giving back my time to the next generation of leaders. My stories might seem unfathomable to most but the lessons I share because of those experiences are priceless. I now take my unique outlook on leadership and use it to creatively inspire people into action across the nonprofit and corporate sectors.

When not serving others in my professional life, I relish failing the #MomOfTheYearCompetition and being a real mom to our two young boys.  I might not excel at Pinterest projects, but I think I make each day with my husband and boys humorous…or at least memorable.  Every day is a new chance to change the world with one small action, lesson learned, and moment shared.
