It’s Starting To Feel Like Home

Just a few weeks ago a visit to Ms. Lipofsky’s house would have revealed that she only had her concrete slab as her flooring.  Now she’s the proud owner of beautiful new laminate flooring.  It’s amazing how much of a difference new flooring makes.

The contractor worked over this past weekend to finish up the flooring so that they could keep the project moving on time.  To make sure that their hard work doesn’t go to waste, Grip-Rite sent construction board that will be used as a temporary flooring cover.  Since it is water resistant it will ensure that the new laminate isn’t damaged in any way while they keep working in the various areas of the interior of Ms. Lipfosky’s.

On Friday afternoon the stucco was repaired on the exterior of the home.  Previously there had been decorative wood accents that were attached, but they rotted and were removed to ensure that Ms. Lipofsky’s home will be completely revitalized when her disaster relief project is completed.

A trip by Ms. Lipofsky’s yesterday showed even more progress had been made over the weekend.  The tile in the kitchen has gone down and really compliments the lighting that Ms. Lipofsky’s last electrician installed for her.  She’s going to be in love with it when she sees it.

The team was working on installing her new baseboards throughout the whole house when I arrived.  Most of the rooms had been finished already, but I arrived just in time to catch them finishing up the last few remaining areas.  This contractor really has dedicated himself to this project and it shows in the care he’s taking to make sure he pays attention to even the smallest of details for her.

The tools that Grip-Rite sent to aid in this project sure did come in handy yesterday.  It was unbelievable how quickly they were able to install the baseboards. The backer board for the shower is scheduled to be replaced this week and it looks as if Ms. Lipofsky’s bathrooms will be back on their way to being functional again very soon.  With only nine days remaining until she will get to see her home, I’m having trouble containing my excitement.  Mark you calendars now because October 25th is the big day that Rebuilding Together brings Ms. Lipofsky home!
