I’m going to be honest, the guilt of being a working mom is massive and the more successful you are in one area of life the more you feel like you’re failing in another.

It’s like being a plate spinner. You’re constantly adding new plates while having to keep the original ones from falling and shattering into a million pieces at your feet.

Despite all of that, I think being a working mom is the best choice for our family for a multitude of reasons. The biggest reason is that our boys see both of their parents doing something they are passionate about. We both serve others in unique ways and that gre charges our batteries.

When we explain what we do for our kids we explain how others are helped by the work we perform. While we all wish that family time could be unlimited, at least our kids know we love what we do and that makes the mom guilt a little easier to tolerate at the end of the day.

The decision to embrace my natural hair texture and then color as well was not an easy one. I had been straightening my hair for over 20 years, so that it would look presentable, so there was a lot of heat damage on top of the damage from coloring it.

The transition wasn’t easy, but I’m glad I didn’t give up. Lock down gave me the courage to stop coloring my hair and since I’ve primarily been working from home since there weren’t many who had to witness me growing the color out in person.

Now, I can’t believe I didn’t do this earlier but I’m glad I finally did. Better late than never.

It was 9 years ago, last month, that I stepped out

It was 9 years ago, last month, that I stepped outside my confront zone and was on the opening production team for this magnificent show’s relocation to its current home in Hyperion Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Just last week, 🎶for the first time in forever🎶 (pun absolutely intended), I revisited it and sat in the audience with my boys. I got to see the show through their eyes and, although they thought they were too cool for it when we walked in, hearing their laughter was the best part.

This is the only thing I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on that my children have gotten to enjoy. All the years of immersive events and custom shows that I’ve done and they’ve never gotten to enjoy a single one (except while I was pregnant with them and they danced on the inside).

While my current work will also likely not be witnessed by them, I’m going to enjoy my memories of experiencing this one moment in time with them for as long as I can.

We finally gave @gibsgives the freedom he’s been dreaming of since we adopted him by getting the backyard fenced in.

The first thing @massagematt did after the fence was complete was pull the staked leash out of the ground so Gibson can now run, play, and enjoy his freedom safely in the backyard.

He’s 100% going to take his Neighborhood Watch / Nosey Neighbor status to a whole new level 👀🐾

Having invisible illnesses and hidden disabilities is never easy, but it shouldn’t be this hard to get help from those who are supposed to want to find you answers. I won’t give up. Just hoping my persistence pays off this year.

For many years I had a team at work that did that daily and at the time I didn’t recognize just how lucky I was for that support time and time again.
