From Making Magic to Changing Lives: Transforming Leadership and Revolutionizing Organizations

It looks like I’ll be able to pay bills next week, if I survive this week’s work schedule. After several weeks with minimal hours, I’m looking into the face of a week with almost sixty hours of work for a change. This presents and interesting challenge since the wedding invitations should be arriving on our door step before the week is out and it’s the one week in the year that we get all gussied up for a night out at a theater’s season announcement party.

An adult prom is the best thing I can relate the announcement party to. Everyone gets all dressed up, enjoys some live entertainment on stage, and then mingling to end the night. It is a highlight for the theater each year and an excuse for us to get dressed up and take a yearly photo together as proof that we do go to events every once in a while. Each year, so far, I have gone on a dress hunt to make sure I had the perfect outfit to compliment my fiancé. Last year I decided to make the dress so that I could get exactly what I wanted. This year I’m excited that I’ll be able to breathe.

It’s just like actual prom all over again. Stressing out to get the perfect dress only to realize when you get there that you can’t breathe if you sit down. Only at prom you can just use that as an excuse to be on the dance floor all night. At this announcement party you have to sit down to watch the show for several hours and that leaves me a step away from hyperventilating if I make a bad dress decision. Last year’s dress design allowed me to breathe when sitting for the first time and it was quite a treat to enjoy the show without worrying about passing out.

Now the only challenge standing between me and Saturday evening’s big event is my work schedule. If I just keep pushing along I know I’ll make it through this week, but I don’t even want to think about what my body is going to do come Sunday. I’m sure a Fibro flare up is in my future and I’m desperately hoping that it waits until this week is through. With just hours between shifts this week, I feel a bit like I’m back in college when it was totally normal to sleep in four-hour chunks at weird times throughout a day. It’s sink or swim time for this gal and I’m planning on making some waves as I surf to shore.

Making waves on my way through this week.
Making waves on my way through this week before the Fibro flares up and ruins my fun.
